Well, here it is. I really wanted to make this edition of
the disk special, with nifty sounds, music, and screen wipes,
but the Fates have other plans. As a result, you see here
a virtual clone of the first three disks, with small
differences. The biggest one is that everything on this
disk is pure DOS -- no power packing, nothing like that.
I want this disk to be as vanilla as possible so that as many
people that want to can use it without ill effects.
First, a word about distribution.
This disk, and its contents, may be spread by any
means, electronic or otherwise, as long as absolutely NO
charge is made other than the cost of transmission. This
means that it may not be sold for any reason, nor held for
ransom by pay-service BBSs. If you run a pay BBS, make this
file a free download. If you refuse to comply with this
policy, remove this disk from your BBS immediately.
Cost may be recouped if you are creating a copy for someone
else, but nothing beyond the cost of the disk itself and the
price of postage. Do not round up!
I will be spreading this disk out through the Sky Amiga
Network's SKYIFF file echo. Any other file network (such as
ADS) is welcome to spread it, too. This disk is available for
download or file request from my BBS, Magic Blue Smoke
(1:202/739, 619-558-3413), as well as many others (I hope).
For those not having the connections, I will also mail a
copy via snail mail. Either send a blank disk (or one with
some nifties on it!) to:
Jeff Grimmett
3152 Kemper Street Apt #5
San Diego, CA 92110
... or just netmail me your address.
And now, the credits.
Many people are responsible for this collection, besides
myself. First of all, there's our dear Amiga Echo
moderator.sex.kitten, Joyce Divina, at 1:3612/42.0. Without
her, this project would have never gotten off the ground, and
without her bright style of moderation, the AMIGA echo
wouldn't be the comfortable place it is. Joyce, a big thanks
and a hug!
One person less obviously responsible for this disk is
Dale Clark, whereabouts unknown -- it was him that
collected and distributed the first three disks, and
without them this disk wouldn't be possible.
Orin Palmer, 1:202/739.10, is the one responsible for
collecting IFF24's, JPEGs, and other non-IFF/HAM pics and
translating them over using ADPro, as well as digitizing the
occasional flat picture or video tape for the disk. He's also
a popular fella in the echo, and a close friend (such a name
dropper I am!)
Asha Develder, at 1:209/216.5, is a strong influence behind
this pic -- besides being one of the minds behind the
original concept, she's been pushing this project more
than anyone, posting my address frequently, and constantly
encouraging me in this endeavor. Double huggies! :-)
Then there's the collection of people actually appearing on
this disk:
Erik Van Petersen
Chuck Buck
Jim Topper
Jonathan Guidry (twice!)
J. T. MaGuire (my vote for neatest pic!)
Marshall Freedland
Orin Palmer (again!)
and
Rodney Meyers
Erik contributed two pics, as did Jonathan. I elected to
only include one of Erik's pics, as they were the same thing.
Jim also contributed two pics, but the hi-res pic gave
SuperView hiccups. Rodney contributed two pics, one in IFF24.
Chuck sent me around a dozen pics, different poses, which
make a neat mini-movie when played real fast :-)
In all cases, unless otherwise requested, I have deleted
the address and phone numbers from the bios (Orin's an
exception since we post his in the echo all the time anyway
:-) Chuck is included without his knowledge or consent
(read the bio first before flaming!) 8-)

I'd like to acknowledge and thank the authors of the
various utilities used to make this disk work:
HDClick: Claude Mueller of Switzerland, last listed address
is 2:302/445.6. I'll be trying to contact him about this
utility, both for reasons of making a bug report, and for
reasons of registration. I strongly encourage anyone
reading this to contribute US $15 to him, as I will be
doing if he's still around. While it's no ScalaMM, it is more
than servicable.
SuperView 3.11: David Grothe, no address listed. A $10
US shareware fee is requested. Those who have registered
versions prior to 3.11 do not need to register it.
MuchMore: Fridtjof Siebert and Christian Stiens, also no
Fido address listed. This is one of the smoothest text
readers I've ever seen. The authors request no shareware fee,
but won't turn away contributions (whoever would? :-)
Sound: The sound player I am using is the SOUND utility
written by Richard Lee Stockton, programmer for Gramma
Software, and wandering minstrel. I strongly encourage
you investigate Gramma's offerings, especially NAG PLUS
and FRED -- these two utils are invaluable parts of my
workbench. Richard has graciously given me permission
to use SOUND in the echodisk, provided I send him a copy.
Thanks, Richard, yer a real dude!
Icons: the icons I used on this disk came from two
collections, one being the Isometric Icons collection first
posted on GENie, the second from one of the many other
collections I have snarfed. I don't remember the names of the
authors of either collection, but they're really great! Thanks,
guys, whoever you are!
Finally, I'd like to make a blanket appology to all
the software authors that wrote these utilities --
none are registered, they are distributed without the full
archive, and for this I appologize. I hope you understand the
purpose behind this disk and the reason for leaving out the
full archives -- space. Any author who wrote a program that is
used for this disk that does not wish for it to be used in
future releases of the disk, please contact me and I will
desist immediately.
I personally can be reached at my BBS, Magic Blue
Smoke (1:202/739). I composed this disk on my trusty A3000/16,
pretty vanilla, using HDClick 2.0 and a few other utils. If
you would like to contribute to further EchoDisks, please send
your pic on disk or other media to me at:
Jeff Grimmett
3152 Kemper St #5
San Diego, CA 92110
You can call me at 619 224 5910 after 5:00 PM Pacific Time,
if you have any questions. Enjoy the disk!
